I've Been Published by Scholastic

Sun Feb 8, 2009, 2:57 PM
Figure I might as well update here about this, since some of you guys who watch me might be interested in it.

I've recently been published in a dinosaur book by Dougal Dixon titled Face to Face: Dinosaurs. They had contacted me over a year ago about publishing one of my drawings, but eventually stopped replying to my emails so I figured the whole thing had fallen through. But around a week ago I thought to email them again, and saw on Amazon that the book had finally been published, and sure enough my picture was in it. :)

Needless to say, I was pretty excited! This is my first paying publication ever, and my first time being published in an actual book in general. Here it is as it appears in the book: [link]

And here's the original in my gallery! [link]

This is definitely making me reconsider the idea of pursuing an actual career as an illustrator.

(I do think it's somewhat too bad that the picture they decided to use was one of the oldest and most crappily rushed one in my gallery, but beggars can't be choosers.)

You seem to have a lot of talent when it comes to paleo-related art.

By the way, your display name on here reminded me of someone on BZP... coincidence?

If you're not going to add anything to your Favourites, at least have the courtesy to say something - I'm not going to get any better if I don't know what I'm doing wrong!
That being BZPower, primarily something of a fansite for a certain branch of the LEGO company, though there is also something of a large group of sci-fi writers there.

Seeing as you don't know what it is, I suppose that makes it a definite coincidence. :P

Wow, you draw some great stuff. You're one of my favorite artists now =). What brought me to your page was your drawing of Sarde the Fox. Redwall rocked my world not too long ago and I've taken a fancy to some rp's. I noticed you don't take requests but if you ever need inspiration let me know. I've got a couple of detailed descriptions I'd like to see come to life on the paper. I wish I could pay you a commission but unfortunately I have no money.

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. :) And yeah, sorry I don't have time anymore to take requests. Maybe I will again sometime in the future. I do kind of miss drawing Redwall stuff!
cool, just let me know if you want to try to do my guy. I'd really like to see him in your perspective. He's a black ermine lol. I know, that's completely the opposite of what an ermine is but I thought it sounded good.
